Preocupación por el aumento de casos de covid-19, de parte del Colegio Médico tanto a nivel nacional como local, manifestó el presidente del Consejo Regional Aconcagua, Luis Foncea.
El aumento de contagios daría cuenta de la existencia de una tercera ola, que a juicio del profesional podría generar un aumento considerable de casos en las próximas semanas, llegando posiblemente a las tres mil personas enfermas a nivel nacional.
“Sin duda preocupa, porque básicamente queremos tener nuestros hospitales, nuestros establecimientos para la gran demanda que está habiendo de atenciones que no eran covid, los que se quedaron rezagados durante este período y el hecho de que empiecen a haber pacientes hospitalizados covid, aunque no ha sido un aumento tan significativo nos preocupa, porque pudiesen llegar a haber más pacientes”, dijo el presidente del gremio en Aconcagua.
El doctor Foncea recordó que en el peor momento de la segunda ola, se presentaron alrededor de 100 casos diarios aproximadamente, con alrededor de mil casos activos, mientras que en la actualidad se presentan alrededor de 12 casos diarios con aproximadamente 130 casos activos. “Lo que es claramente menos de lo que teníamos en la segunda ola, pero sin embargo nos preocupa porque ha habido una umento”.
Para el profesional es de suma importancia el proceso de vacunación, que a su juicio protege de la muerte a los pacientes contagiados con la enfermedad y baja los niveles de hospitalización, lo que debería hacer una diferencia significativa con el momento peack de la segunda ola.
“Actualmente en el hospital de Los Andes hay sólo dos casos covid positivo, uno de ellos sin embargo está conectado a ventilación mecánica, una persona muy joven. En el hospital de San Felipe hay alrededor de tres casos, y lo mismo un paciente conectado a ventilación mecánica, entonces si bien es cierto no se parece en absoluto en lo que pasó en el peack de la segunda ola, estamos en un aumento creciente de casos y eso implica que van a aumentar los casos de hospitalización. Los pacientes que están hospitalizados sí están vacunados, con dos dosis, y ahí uno puede inferir que la importancia de la dosis de refuerzo es realmente alta, en el sentido de que aquellos pacientes que se vacunaron muy precozmente durante este año, probablemente empezaron a disminuir su inmunidad, lo cual hace que una tercera dosis sea absolutamente necesaria”, sostuvo el doctor Foncea.
