Como una de sus primeras medidas administrativas tras asumir como máxima autoridad comunal, el alcalde de Putaendo Mauricio Quiroz, anunció presentación de un recurso de invalidación del proyecto de 350 sondajes de la Minera Vizcachitas en el marco de una estrategia jurídico medioambiental, que tiene por objetivo evitar la instalación e intervención de la gran minería en la cordillera de la comuna.
La Municipalidad de Putaendo comenzó un intenso trabajo de protección de su patrimonio natural cordillerano, interponiendo un recurso de invalidación de la Resolución de Calificación Ambiental del proyecto de 350 sondajes de prefactibilidad de la Compañía Minera Vizcachitas Holding.
La medida es parte del compromiso y convicción del Alcalde Mauricio Quiroz, quien ha rechazado tajantemente la instalación de gran minería en la cordillera. Para la máxima autoridad comunal cualquier intervención de este tipo de faenas mineras, provocará un daño irreparable al patrimonio natural e histórico de Putaendo.
“Tenemos un gran desafío que es impedir que la gran minería del cobre se instale en la cuenca superior del Río Putaendo y esa va a ser nuestra conducta. Vamos a hacer todo lo que esté a nuestro alcance como municipalidad para impedir la destrucción del medio ambiente y el impacto en las comunidades putaendinas que traerá consigo la instalación de la gran minería en nuestra comuna”, explicó el Alcalde Mauricio Quiroz.
Este recurso de invalidación se desarrolló con la asesoría jurídica y medioambiental de la bioconsultora Simbiosis, contratada por el municipio, con quien el alcalde Mauricio Quiroz ya ha establecido diferentes lineamientos de acción para evitar la instalación de este tipo de proyectos mineros en esta comuna patrimonial.
“Nos asiste el derecho de hacerlo, porque además tenemos fundados argumentos que dicen relación a que esa Resolución de Calificación Ambiental es inválida, en tanto a que no consideró un número significativo de impactos ambientales que generaría la ejecución de este proyecto”, manifestó la máxima autoridad comunal.
Fue en el mes de abril cuando la Comisión Regional de Evaluación Ambiental, encabezada por el Intendente Jorge Martínez, decidió aprobar de manera unánime, la Declaración de Impacto Ambiental (DIA) del Proyecto “Sondajes Mineros de Prefactibilidad Las Tejas”, presentado por la Compañía Minera Vizcachitas Holding, decisión que provocó un rechazo transversal y mayoritario en la comunidad de Putaendo.
En su primer día oficial al mando de la comuna de Putaendo, el alcalde Mauricio Quiroz, dejó en claro que uno de los ejes fundamentales de su administración edilicia estará enfocado en la oposición a proyectos de megaminería y en una activa protección del medio ambiente y el patrimonio de la comuna.
