Monasterio sostuvo que ya inició su precampaña y que está dispuesto a someterse a una Primaria al interior de Renovación Nacional para obtener el cupo que lo lleve a representar a la región de Aconcagua en las próximas elecciones de Diputados en el nuevo Distrito; “yo soy independiente pero iría por cupo RN como lo utilice la vez anterior como candidato a CORE, lógicamente sigo con ellos, les tengo un agradecimiento enorme por haberme dado la oportunidad de competir en esa ocasión y esta vez también bajo su alero, donde lo más probable tenga que sortear Primarias en julio próximo, donde espero estar representando al valle de Aconcagua.”
Juan Carlos Monasterio indicó que todavía no está clara la definición la forma en que Renovación Nacional definirá a sus candidatos; “lo más probable es que sea a través de Primarias, hay varios nombres que están circulando, pero en este nuevo mega Distrito tengo entendido que soy el único de la zona de Aconcagua y eso implica que si se ratifican las Primerias que estén bastante competitivas.”
El empresario reconoció que en un comienzo tenía la ambición de levantar una candidatura senatorial, pero los cambios introducidos tras la eliminación del Binominal que terminó con el Distrito 11, lo llevó a replantear sus planes políticos y jugarse por representar en el nuevo Distrito 11 al valle de Aconcagua; “deseo que la región de Aconcagua siga están representada en la Cámara de Diputados y por eso decidí empezar por ahí, esperando obtener el cargo para tener la representación necesaria de la futura Región de Aconcagua.”
