El Prefecto de la PDI Roberto Patricio Fernández Maureira, sostuvo que el femicidio y suicidio ocurrió alrededor de las 03:00 horas de la madrugada de este jueves en vivienda que ocupaba la víctima en predio agrícola del sector de Casuto que administraba, Fernando Gómez Muñoz.
El oficial de la PDI indicó que aparentemente a raíz de una discusión por diferencias de caracteres y convivencia, el hombre fuera de control habría tomado una escopeta y disparó contra su mujer, para luego después de comunicar a familiares vía telefónica lo ocurrido se quitó la vida disparándose con la misma arma de fuego.
Cuando concurrieron familiares y Carabineros al domicilio encontraron los cadáveres del matrimonio en el dormitorio de la vivienda. Posteriormente por orden del fiscal de turno de Los Andes se constituyó en el sitio del suceso personal de la Brigada de Homicidios para realizar los primeros peritajes externos preliminares e iniciar las diligencias tendientes a establecer las causas basales de este femicidio y suicidio.
Los cuerpos del matrimonio fueron derivados al Servicio Médico Legal de San Felipe para la autopsia correspondiente.
