Ante declaraciones realizadas por la senadora Lily Pérez y la diputada Andrea Molina sobre una supuesta expansión encubierta de la División Andina con el proyecto 244, dirigentes del Sindicato SIIL plantearon públicamente que solamente se está buscando un aprovechamiento político y mediático mediante información infundada de parte de los regantes. El Sindicato SIIL se refirió a la polémica calificándola como un aprovechamiento mediático en medio de la vorágine de las futuras elecciones, fueron calificadas las declaraciones hechas por la senadora por la zona Lily Pérez y la diputada Andrea Molina, donde ambas se colgaron de una acusación infundada de los regantes, donde acusaron a Codelco Andina de estar realizando un proyecto de expansión 244 encubierto, tras retirar el proyecto del Servicio de Evaluación Ambiental para reformularlo.
En este sentido, desde la Directiva organización sindical se apunta a que no es efectiva la información de que se retomara el proyecto, ya que su tramitación está suspendida de su evaluación ambiental y siempre se ha dicho que todo proyecto que se haga debe ser sustentable.
Según comentó Juan Olguín, a nombre del directorio del Sindicato SIIL “nosotros creemos que es irresponsable las declaraciones de ambas parlamentarias, pues no se informan bien, y están buscando un aprovechamiento político en este tema y mordieron la carnada que dejaron los regantes”.
Se apunta desde la organización sindical que los trabajadores no se prestarán para ser utilizados de esta manera, y por ende piden una respuesta más tajante y contundente de parte de Codelco a las parlamentarias, pues se está utilizando políticamente un proyecto que se considera que será el futuro laboral de la zona.
“Acá las acusaciones deben realizarse con responsabilidad y se vienen las elecciones por lo cual, apuntamos a que los políticos se informen bien y vean con claridad todo, pues creemos también que hay otras intenciones, principalmente sacar un beneficio económico de parte de los regantes”, sostuvo Olguín.
Cabe mencionar que las acusaciones se sustentaron en que se estarían realizando obras de expansión sin hacer una consulta ciudadana, lo que se hizo y fue lo mismo que hizo caer el proyecto, por lo que los trabajadores reiteran que es necesario un proyecto de expansión pero siempre de manera sustentable.
Finalmente, se acusó de un supuesto daño al Río Aconcagua, donde se sostuvo que Codelco ocupa solamente el 4% del caudal según estudios de monitoreo y se aporta el 17% del Producto Interno Bruto PIB de la región en tanto otros sectores como los denunciante ocupan más del 74% del caudal y aportan solamente 4% al PIB, beneficiándose solamente algunos empresarios agrícolas, pues la empleabilidad en este rubro es mínima en relación a la minería en la región.
Los trabajadores pretenden que a futuro, una vez que esté visado el proyecto de Expansión este sea sustentable y responsable con el medioambiente y la comunidad cumpliendo todos los requisitos, así como también que se tome como alternativa que la cuprífera adquiera Los Bronces y que sería una opción viable al proyecto de expansión y que beneficiaría a todo el país, ya que los dineros se podrían invertir socialmente y no se lo lleven las empresas extranjeras.
