En el hospital Militar en Santiago, falleció alumno de la Escuela de Montaña con emplazamiento en Los Andes, que el pasado domingo cuando regresaba junto a otros militares de un curso de escalada perdió el equilibrio cayendo de un sendero a gran altura.
Sobre el fatal accidente la Escuela de Alta Montaña del Ejército de Chile, a través de un comunicado de prensa indicó que tras la caída de altura del alumno este fue inmediatamente socorrido y derivado al hospital institucional, donde lamentablemente a pesar de los esfuerzos médicos por salvar su vida, falleció de la gravedad de sus lesiones.
La versión entregada por la Escuela de Alta Montaña, precisa que; “en horas de la mañana del día domingo y en circunstancias en que los alumnos del Curso Regular de Montaña se encontraban en una marcha a pie de regreso de un ejercicio de escalada de combate en el cerro El Refugio, cercano a la localidad de Río Blanco, un alumno perdió el equilibrio al transitar por un sendero, lo que produjo su caída desde gran altura.”
En el lugar del accidente recibió los Primeros Auxilios por parte del enfermero del curso, para posteriormente ser evacuado vía aérea al Hospital Militar de Santiago, centro asistencial donde se produjo su deceso.
Producto de los hechos descritos, se dio cuenta inmediatamente a los estamentos correspondientes, a fin de dar inicio a las investigaciones de rigor. En forma paralela se ha dispuesto efectuar una Investigación Sumaria Administrativa.
La Escuela de Montaña lamentó profundamente la pérdida de uno de sus alumnos, hecho que enluta a la Institución, la cual ha dispuesto los apoyos correspondientes a la familia afectada», señala el comunicado.
